GOOD
NEWS FROM NAVROCK AUSSIES!
Our Foxy Roxy took a 5 point major on Saturday in
New Hope, Minnesota under Judge Ginny Altman.
As she was handing the ribbon to Todd she said, "Love at first sight!". I agree,
it's hard not to fall
instantly in love with our pretty red merle girl.
Roxy was most delighted with the fact that Lauren and Anna put enough raffle
tickets in to win her a
brand new bed and a water bucket full of great toys with a yummy bone!
She has 9 points (2 majors) with 6 more points to go. In AKC she also has 9
points (no majors).

FLOODING in Jayne Holligan's UK
Lake's District village!
The bridge washed out ....
fences were flattened.
Water over the road ... flooded sheep pasture.
Pasture trail & road covered with flood waters.
Flooding over Wood House Butte & river banks gone!
Rescue helicopter
On November 21st we took a
frantic call from Karen Wilson to tell us that the torrential rains & flooding
in England occurred in
Jayne Holligan's English village. We waited with worry until we heard from Jayne
the next day. Here is Jayne's recount of the flooding!
I am here ! Just about very tired as for
the last 3 days we have been working from first light to last light to move
stock,
unblock streams and rivers so we don't flood... Its been unbelievable ... here
we had 12.5 inches of rain the most ever recorded
in one 24 hour day Ever !!! And boy did it rain !!!! Alan says he has never seen
either lake as full in his time here ,,,, we held the
rain back in the lakes for as long as possible but the flood gates could hold no
more the water was ready to go ,,, and off it went ,,,
unfortunately for us up here it took gravel boulders trees downstream filling
the streams, and rivers causing them to burst their
banks and re route ,,,, roads were like rivers 8 inches deep in water impassable
by anything other than tractor... pieces of road
have been swept away, whole bridges gone ,,,, I have LOTS of pictures .. haven't
had time to upload them yet but I will ....
Ellen remember the picture I sent you of some of our Ewes in the mist with me
standing in the foreground well next to me
was a 10 foot embankment holding the river in that has all gone ... that field
is now under water and full of debris I will send
you a new shot I got today ,,,, you will never believe it ...
We had 125 ewes in those fields we had moved them for winter grazing and ready
for breeding as its breeding season now ...
we went down first thing Thursday morning to check them the river was still in
its bank ... by 3 o'clock we got a call from Jax & Julie
at Cornhow who we rent the ground from ... the river had burst and the girls
were smart enough to come towards the road .. we
headed down on tractor , me , Alan and 2 sheepdogs .... Julie and her sister
Jeanette were waiting on their tractor to help ..
at this point the wind is blowing at approx 70 mph ,,, its raining hard.. and
the road is now 3 inches deep in water to get the sheep
to safety we had to get them 1/4 mile UP the road and turned into a field ---
sheep do NOT like water ,,,, the thankful thing ,,, these
were not just sheep but HERDWICKS !!! the smartest wisest sheep on the planet ,,
and although stubborn at first with 2 people
2 dogs pushing from behind and a person leading them they went up that road like
they had walked in water all their lives all of
them bar one who got washed off her feet and had to be left in the field ,,,(
BUT she survived !!!! she was smart and found the
high hedgerow ! ) I have to say that's one of the proudest moments of my life
... pushing those old ladies up that road and seeing
them run to the safety of higher ground kinda made me choke with emotion,,,, its
been a stressful few days but hopefully the
worst is over we have strong gusting winds tonight ,,, but the rain is lighter
and patchy ,,,
Thank you for all your thoughts ... its late and I must get some sleep ,,,
thankfully our house is safe and dry which is more
than some people have here right now so we can count our blessings... there is
lots to clear up around the farm ...
Alan's , Mum and dads place took a pretty hard hit for damage but again
thankfully its fencing, walls, water damage to fields
and land and farm buildings ,,, their house is safe ,,, Will try and upload pics
soon. Hugs Jayne xxxx
Your story chokes US with
emotion Jayne! Thank God you are okay!
Your sheep are INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT!!!!
