Today at night I have just back from 10 days holiday at the see side in Croatia and Montenegro where we had 4 shows.
Unfortunately 3 days before shows we want to the rock see side - those countries are made from stone and see
 - no big trees and sand beaches and the dogs (Blue, Sheina and Slash) are hurt their feet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on those rocks -
they were so happy in the sea that I realized that when we were coming back home :(( I had really a big problems of
showing dogs : (( how could I be so stupid :((( But finally thanks to my friend from Czech - Sheina and blue became
Champion of Montenegro - slash Best Puppy in Breed - but was not shown in BIS puppy competition. Then 2 x cacib
show in Zadar - Croatia -
Slash Best Puppy in Breed and 1 Best Couple with Sheina !!!!!! of show !!!! All the best, Iwona
We are very sorry to hear the dogs hurt their feet swimming in the sea, Iwona ....
but they still managed some wins for you!  CONGRATULATIONS!

ZIPPO TAKES BEST IN SHOW IN NEW ZEALAND!
Zippo" had a great weekend at the shows this past weekend.  On the Saturday,
he got Best of Breed and GROUP 1 under Mr G M (Max) Winch from Queensland
Australia, and then on the Sunday, he once again got the Best of Breed and
GROUP 1, this time under Mrs Sylvia Gartner from New South Wales, Australia.
He then had General Specials where he went BEST IN SHOW with the judge being
Mr G M (Max) Winch.  How great is that and so lucky that Mr Winch had liked
him the previous day as well.  Allan is floating at the moment - it will
probably take him a while to come down to earth!
This win has jumped Zippo up in the points table a long way but to show you
how strong the aussies are in New Zealand at the moment, if you go to
http://www.dogzonline.co.nz/showdog2008/top50.asp?group=5  you
can see the ratings at the moment and have a look at how many Australian Shepherds
are currently in the top 50 of the working group around the country.  You can
only get on this top 50 by winning a Group 1 or 2 and higher.  There are 7
aussies in this top 50 at the moment.  The awards are sure being shared
around the group.  The OES that is leading at the moment is in the South
Island and has several BIS to its name - I gather a really stunning dog.
He is slowly rising in the breed scores however those breed scores are for
dogs beaten in the breed and Zippo did not have a lot of Aussie opposition
this weekend but he is getting there.  We will keep him showing as long as
he looks good and a few more good wins and he will be leading I am sure!
Kisses from Zippo and Nandi, Di
HUGE CONGRATS ON AN INCREDIBLE WEEKEND, DI!

Ch Thornapple Hot Temptation "Zippo"
Attached are photos of Chelsea winning child Handlers with Zippo, Allan
winning with Zippo and Bronwyn winning with Nandi.  The picture of me
winning on another occasion with Nandi is not a great picture so I thought I
would leave it out.  After Zippo's BEST IN SHOW win at the weekend, I
thought I would send the photos as there are no win photos as the rain was
bucketing down and everyone was running for cover.  A great pity but we are
hoping to take a photo at the shows in 2 weeks of Zippo and all his kids
being shown.  The only one that will not be there will be Walka, the male
that we kept out of Coralee's litter to Zippo.  Unfortunately we decided not
to enter him as his brother and sis would be there at the show along with 7
other aussies.  Just no room in the car! Kisses from Nandi and Zippo, Di

Yoshi's MUD PUPPIES in Japan!  Aussies LOVE MUD no matter where in the world they are!
Dear Thornapple family members, Hello everybody, Did you all safely go back home in Michigan?
I came back to Japan on the 28th (Japan time). I really wish to say thank you for your nice
hospitality although you were very busy and I could not speak English well. (Because of some
family matters, I arrived at Greeley on 22nd at night.) Maybe I made you very busy. I got very
happy that you let me pat the famous "Shamba". My purpose of this trip were to watch and
remember  the wonderful Aussies in the states, especially the Thornapple Aussies, and to talk
to the people at the show, if possible, to  find Ruby's mate. There were so many beautiful Aussies.
I was also surprised by the number of total entries, who had perfect structure and balance.
Everything was far beyond of  the level in Japan.  It will take a long time for us to reach that level.
Actually  It looked impossible for me to choose one out of them. I was very honored to be at the
same table with you at the Banquet on the 24th night. (I had never thought about that!) I really had
a good time in the nice atmosphere, with great food. Also, I had a great and fun time with Shayna
and Austen at the last dinner when the show finished. Hi Shayna,  Hi Austen, I will teach you the
Japanese words again at your place next time. Also I have to thank you about bringing me the
mobile phone which I had forgotten in the car. I was in great trouble at the hotel reception.) Regarding
Ruby's mate, back home I thought and thought about everybody's advice  suggesting "Axel."
However, I still feel like I like "Drew" the most. I remember him on the grooming table or running in
the ring very well and my eyes stick on his photos when I access your HP. His great looking and
total balance impressed me so much.
Thinking of the time when I sent the first letter to Ellen last year,
I feel like I really did great in spite of my hesitation. This experience of being able to see the dog show
of Aussies in the States and meeting you all will greatly influence my future life. It was really worth
going and I am very satisfied. I wish I was able to speak English better.  It would make everything
even more fun. Though it won't happen very rapidly, I do my best for the progress of my English.
Again, I thank you very much for everything there! Best regards, Yoshihiro Yamaji *** WILD LEVIN *** JAPAN
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL EMAIL, YOSHI!  We enjoyed meeting you and getting to know you!
We look forward to your visit to Michigan this summer when Ruby comes into season!
A HUGE thank you to Amanda Hutchinson for being our official translator for the week of Nationals.
As a high school student, Amanda traveled from Australia to Japan as an exchange student.
Her Japanese came right back to her at Nationals & she translated fluently for us!
Amanda ... you are the best!

Our hearts go out to Mike and Diann Inch on the loss of their lovely Senior, Miss Thornapple Too Sassy
(Sired by Ch Thornapple Wind Hawk *** Dam CJR's Blue's Last Request)
May 23, 1993 - April 26, 2008 *** almost 15 years old

A NEW baby joins the Inch household!  Introducing Thornapple Bombs Bursting In Air
known as Miss Addie which means noble kind!

Dear Ellen and Amy, We were up at 3 AM with Diann.
Diann got Michael up at 4 to take over.  He looks funny at that hour.
Michael tried to go back to sleep but I whined and howled and barked
for as long as I could. He got up and tried to make breakfast, but I demanded
full attention to the point his yummy Mexican omelet got cold.  Good job.
I helped Michael move yards of  mulch around the flower beds.  I like chasing the
wheel barrel. I don't like that rope thing he put on me to keep me from romping in the
neighbor lady's yard.  I let him know about that. I stayed under his feet all day. I laughed
when he fell down trying not to step on me. I rolled in all of the dirt and am not clean and
soft anymore. I barked my tail off when mean Michael locked me in Sassy's kennel when
the lawn guys came. I barked and howled my tail off more when I had to drive to the Vet
in the back of Michael's prison on wheels. Screw that micro chip thing the nasty Vet Lady
jammed in me. Also, next time put more lube on the butt thermometer thing please.
I am tired now. I want to dream of chewing up the couch tomorrow under Diann's watch. Love, Addie

An exhausted Addie catches a few winks after a tough 1st day on the job!

DAY 3 *** Addie's Blog!
Dear Grandma T, I don't know what to say about these Inches.  I am doing my best to train them, but they keep resisting my efforts.
Michael on Monday.  Diann all day Tuesday.  I figured the  couch was mine on Wednesday when they both had to show up at their
jobs so they could pay for me.  Darn if they did not throw me a crooked bone by sending sweet Grandma Inch over to keep me from
having my time with the couch, the shoes and rugs.  Curses!  It had to be that Michael's fault.  The good news is that I was able to train
Grandma Inch to hand feed me so I did not have to work too hard to get my food.  I also trained her to let me tear up her newspaper while
she was trying to read and not pay attention to me.  I almost was able to rip up the arm covers on my couch to be, but she caught me.  It
was close. I was able to not pay any attention to the toilet area they want me "to go" in.  That Sassy dog must have been a real pansy to "go"
in only one designated spot.  I am better that that.  I only go on the beautiful grass.  I am special and I know it.  I don't really know about
the name Addie.I might grow into it.  I am still thinking about it.  I miss you and my buddies more that I can say.  They bought me a new
soft crate to let me sleep in their bedroom for now.  Sassy never accomplished that and they say she was smart.
Huh !  Where did you find these people?  They are wearing me out. Love, Bombs Bursting in Air - Addie

DAY 3 FOR MISS ADDIE **** She will train these Inch people if it's the last thing she does!

CH Thornapple End Of The Rainbow * Owned & Loved by Betsy Hamkens * North Dakota
Rainy went to college:)))))  Marketplace for kids all day.  My classes averaged 90 to 100 kids each session.
Rain had a blast as did I.  He is sooooo excellent.  I could own 10 Rain puppies. My heart aches
that there will never be a repeat of that breeding. Here are some of the pictures I took of Rain at the University today.

On the one he is checking out the doggie bathroom facilities aka the hydrant.  One he is helping me pick up the cones and "clean up".
The kids roared over that one since the more they laughed the sillier he got.  He loves helping me pickup after a training session.
Whether it be cones or poles or whatever we are using for training. The crate one he can hardly wait until he can come out of his crate
and work. He is starting to cheat on that one  but figures if he is halfway in that is better than nothing. I soooooo care for that dog!!!!
He is one that has to live forever:))))))  I will be lost without him. Betsy
